Little Learners place strives to ensure all children and families feel welcome and at ease in our centre. It is in the best interest of your child and supports you, your child and the educators to get to know each other. Our orientation process is flexible and tailored to you and your child's needs.
Orientations are scheduled over one or two periods and are of no cost to you. During the orientation visits it gives you and the staff opportunities to discuss your child’s needs and routines while beginning to establish some trusting relationships with our Educators.
At Little Learners Place we provide care to children from 8 weeks to 6 years. The centres provide a range of learning environment that are developmentally appropriate including our Kindergarten program lead by our Qualified Early Childhood Teacher and our beautiful Family room that caters for multi age. Yes, At Little Learners Place we have an experienced team in our Kindy Room delivering our kindergarten program.
Our Educators work with your child to develop their skills and prepare them for pre-primary in a supportive play-based environment.
We follow the Western Australian Kindergarten Curriculum, while also incorporating the Being Belonging and Becoming Early Years Learning Framework.
All families are asked to provide a spare set of clothes for their child in case of any spillages, accidents or water play. We ask for extra sets of clothing if a child is beginning to toilet train so we can continue to encourage those skills at Little Learners Place.
If your child still has bottles of milk, formula or breast milk we ask that you please supply the bottle and any formula or breast milk required for the day.
If your child is in nappies, please supply nappies and nappy cream to ensure you have control over the products you want your child to use. If you forget, please don’t worry – we have spares!
We ask that children bring a water bottle that they can identify and use between mealtimes.
At Little Learners Place we run a play-based program so we ask that your little learners come in clothes that can get a little bit messy.
Our qualified culinary team plans and prepares meals daily in our Little Lunch Place, which includes Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and a Late Snack. We offer Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter menus both of which are on a 5-week rotation. All menus are nutritionally balanced to ensure that children are provided with the recommended daily intake of each food group with a variety of cultures represented in our menus. Dietary, cultural and medical needs are also catered for at Little Learners Place.
We encourage families to meet with our Food Manager during their orientation process and discuss your child’s specific needs. All educators and culinary team members are aware of each child’s dietary requirements and food allergies.
We have our menu on display outside our Little Lunch Place for you to see every day. We also encourage parent input and suggestions to our menus.
We have decided at Little Learners Place that we won’t bring in any outside food for the safety of all our children. Celebrating special milestones is an important part of every child’s development.
This means that if your child is having a special milestone and you would like us to celebrate with them at Little Learners Place please let us know in advance and our Food Manager or our children will bake specifically for the birthday child. There is no additional cost to parents.
Yes you can! We all have those last-minute work meetings or family emergency that needs our attention.
Conveniently within our app you can log in and make a casual booking using the availability calendar or email the centre directly if you require care in more than 2 business days' time.
Booking a regular day session means that you are reserving that regular day for your child. Therefore, we do require payment for holidays and absent days.
Casual sessions that you have booked require two weeks advance written notice (email is accepted) to cancel without cost.
This policy is in place because we plan resources to fulfil our educational and national legal requirements dependent upon the number of children booked for a session. Child Care Subsidy is paid for up to 42 absent days in a financial year.
We use our own secure app or web based portal that you can log in and view real time information, learning journeys, photos and experiences. The app also allows for a number of key interactions between the centre and parents; thus saving you time. More details available upon enrolment.
Upon enrolment, you will receive your log in details where you can view your child’s learning journey, which will include photos and activities.
Most importantly, educators take the time to have that vital chat in person with you at collection and drop off times every day.
Please advise us during the enrolment process if you wish for your child’s photo to be kept private
We’ve made it easy for you and have direct debit implemented via bank account or credit card.
All educators hold, or are actively working towards, an approved Early Education and Care qualification. All educators hold a minimum Certificate III in Children’s Services and each room has a Leading Educator who holds a Diploma in Children’s Services or is a qualified Early Childhood teacher.
All educators hold a current Working With Children’s Check and formal certification in First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis.
At Little Learners Place we have room rhythms and they vary depending on the age of the child and the room they are in. For those children in the baby’s room they follow their individual home routine. As they progress through to the toddler's room, we begin to blend this routine with a more general routine that follows regular mealtimes and sleep patterns. Kindy children have the most structured routine that encourages self-service and independent feeding. However, our rhythms are flexible arounds children’s wants needs and engagement each day. We always strive to cater for any additional needs in consultation with parents.
Little Learners Place follows strict policies and procedures to respond to any incidents that may occur during your child’s time at Little Learners Place. Within the centre Educators hold current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certifications.
Should an accident occur parents will be informed either at collection time or via telephone immediately (as per our Policies). All incidents are recorded on our Incident Form which includes full details of the circumstances of the incident and the response taken. Parents are asked to sign these on our app at collection. Little Learners Place policies and procedures are available to view in centre or on our app for all enrolled parents.
Little Learners Place adopts sun smart practices daily. All children and educators are required to wear a sun smart hat, suitable clothing and sunscreen when outside. We provide sun smart hats for each child upon enrolment.
Educators monitor the UV levels daily and outside play is adapted according to weather conditions. Sunscreen is provided and will be applied before children go outdoors. Families are encouraged to apply sunscreen at home each morning to allow it to soak into the skin before the children engage in outdoor play when they arrive at the centre.
If your child has an allergy to any sunscreen products, please inform your child’s educators and provide suitable suncream for your child to use.
