That’s why we’ve created this simple guide to help you understand the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and how it can make early learning more affordable for your family.

What is the Child Care Subsidy?

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government payment that helps families with the cost of childcare. It’s designed to make early education more accessible and affordable, so your child can get the best start in life without the stress of paying full fees. The subsidy is paid directly to us as your childcare provider, and we pass it on to you as a fee reduction so you only pay the gap amount.

What Determines How Much You Get?

There are three key factors that affect how much CCS you receive.

Your family’s combined income: The more your household earns, the lower your subsidy percentage will be, but most families are eligible for some level of support.

Your activity level: This includes the number of hours you or your partner work, study, volunteer, or look for work. The more activity you complete, the more subsidised care hours you can access.

The type of care you use: CCS applies to long day care, family day care, outside school hours care and vacation care.

How Many Hours Are Covered?

Families can receive up to 100 hours per fortnight of subsidised care, depending on their recognised activity level. Even families with low or no activity may still receive up to 24 hours per fortnight under the low-income exemption.

How Do I Apply?

Applying for CCS is straightforward, and we are always here to support you through the process.

Sign in to your MyGov account linked to Centrelink.
Go to the Child Care Subsidy section.
Provide details about your income and activity level.
Once approved, provide your CRN and date of birth for both you and your child so we can link your enrolment.
